Privacy Policy
Last updated August 20, 2026
ThingBoard is a shared family board for schedules, groceries, and to-dos. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By creating an account you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture so family members can recognise each other.
- Content you create. Family names, invite codes, grocery and to-do items, notes, due dates, reminders, and assignments.
- Connected Google data. If you connect Google Calendar or Google Tasks, we read events and tasks from the calendars and lists you explicitly select so they can be displayed on your board.
- Usage analytics. Aggregated, non-identifying usage events through Google Analytics (pages viewed, features used) to help us improve the product.
How we use your information
We use your information only to operate ThingBoard: to display your board, share it with the family members you invite, deliver reminders you configure, keep your account secure, and improve the app. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your calendar, task, or list content for advertising.
Google user data
ThingBoard's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Calendar and task data is used solely to show your board inside the app. We request read access only to the calendars and task lists you choose, and you can disconnect Google at any time from the calendar settings, which stops all further access.
Sharing and visibility
Anything you add to a family board is visible to every member of that family. Family administrators can invite and remove members. We share data with service providers who help us run the app (hosting, database, authentication, analytics), and only when required by law.
Data retention and security
Your data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with access controls that restrict each row of data to the family it belongs to. Family lock codes are stored only as salted hashes and are never readable by the app. We keep your data while your account is active; deleted items are removed from the board immediately and purged from backups on a rolling basis.
Your choices
- Edit your display name, time zone, and layout in settings at any time.
- Disconnect Google Calendar or Tasks to stop syncing.
- Leave a family to stop sharing your board with its members.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us; we will action the request within 30 days.
Children
ThingBoard is intended for adults managing a household. Accounts must be created by someone 13 or older. Children may use a shared family tablet without their own account.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app evolves; material changes will be announced in the app. Questions or requests? Contact privacy@thingboard.app.
